Psalm 73:21-28

“Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.”

These verses come after a discourse by Asaph on the prosperity of the wicked. How often do we envy the unrighteous, forgetting that the only pleasure they have is in this world? And that the Lord calls it “the prosperity of fools”(Proverbs 1:30-33)?! That God has promised that he sends the rain on the just as well as the unjust, and his sun will shine on the evil and good(Matthew 5:45)? We, when we thus envy such men, are just as foolish as Asaph was! We should not place our trust in circumstances (whether good or bad), or trust in the riches or good things of this world(Matthew 6:19-21); BUT trust in the almighty, sovereign, just and righteous hand of the LORD. We need to draw near to Him, and stop committing whoredom with this world!

We should give thanks in all things (1 Thessalonians 5:18) and remember all that the Lord has given to, and done for us! Shame on us for complaining about our circumstances, whining that we don’t have it as good as the heathen next door, and not thanking the Lord that he has saved our worthless souls (worthless as of ourselves, only worth something under the covering of the righteousness of Christ.) and for our eternal inheritance!

Lord help us to be ever mindful of you, and reject the vanity of this world! (Ecclesiastes 1:1)

The Greatest Humility!

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.  Philippians 2:5-8

Jesus Christ knew that he was equal to God, and yet he was humble making himself a servant… and obeyed God, even in the requirement of his death on the cross! Thank you Lord! That really puts me to shame. Now look at his most assuredly deserved reward:

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

Sisters…Oh How Sweet!

sisters 3

Sisters are a great blessing from the Lord! Do we take them for granted? Are we being the sisters we ought?

As the oldest girl in my family, I feel an immense burden to be a better… yea, even the best  sister ever! I was thinking that the number one duty we have to our siblings is to love the Lord and strive to be like Christ. In this way only, with the Lord’s help, can we even hope to be a half way good sister.

I do not like many of today’s books on how to be a good sister (and brother), for the simple reason that they aren’t really practical for all people. (one that I do like however, is “Joyfully at Home” by Jasmine Baucham)We need to look at the Bible to know how to be (or not to be) good, God-honouring siblings. Think about Joseph’s brothers, think about Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, think about David and his brothers or David’s sons. There are also simple yet powerful verses to guide you:

“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” 1Peter 4:8

“Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.” Proverbs 15:17

“A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.” Proverbs 18:19

“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:22

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;  Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” 1Colossians 13:4-8

“Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.” Proverbs 13:10

“But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.” Psalm 50:16,20

I had to comment on this one, HOW DARE YOU!, God is saying, Take my Words in your wicked mouth when you do such an evil thing as speak slanderously of your brother!!!! Speaking slanderously is to speak in order to damage another’s reputation. Back to other verses:

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3-5

“Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.” Proverbs 22:10

Cast the scorner out of yourself… your parents would, most likely, get in trouble if they threw you out (have they ever wished they could because you cause SO much contention? For shame!) so we must take the responsibility of creating peace by ridding ourselves of scorn.

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

“And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Matthew 18:34-35 (yikes!)

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

Do you want your siblings as friends, or enemies? (ummm… you should want them as friends… is that the scorner speaking “I don’t want HER {him} for a friend!”) Then, just as you are, or should be friendly toward other people you want for friends, you should be friendly to your siblings.

“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” Colossians 3:14

“Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.” Matthew 5:23-24

NOW… back to sisters:

I have three! I love them dearly. I prayed many a long year for them. Then the Lord blessed me with three in a row! YAY!!!! They are all VERY different from each other. It has been/is an adventure getting to know each one.

Bethany and I are 14 years apart, she is the closest sister to my age. She just turned 6 in April! She is finally getting to the point were we can truly discuss things :) Yes, I do discuss things with her. Ha! Ha! She is the spunky little sister, and yet she is the most generous girl you could possibly ever know! She has blond hair and the brownest eyes ever! She likes wearing her tiered denim skirt and an orange shirt. She and I like to giggle together,  play dollhouse, weed the gardens, fold the laundry (after all, the Bible says Two are better than one!) and she loves being my partner at the grocery store. I remember when she was born, the very first time that she opened her sweet little eyes… oh how precious! I will continually thank the Lord for her!

flowe arranging

Brigitta is 4, and is the girly girl. She LOVES dress up, especially shoes, and hair bows. She has wavy brown hair, (the only hair with body in our family) and brown eyes. She likes to dress in her prettiest, frilliest and most full-skirted dress. She is sweet and VERY quite most all of the time (I forgot to say Bethany is a TALKER!) She likes to dance to music with me, pick flowers and play princess. It was such a surprise at her ultrasound (well mom’s anyway) ANOTHER GIRL! Then to see how different she is from my dear Bethany Pearl! I rejoice in the Lord for my little Brigitta Opal!

tea lil girls

And last but definitely not least- Bellhannah Ruby! She is an adorable 2 year old with a truck load of energy! She has blond hair and grayish blue eyes. She is newly potty trained and is the most cheerful of the girls. So much so, in fact, that people who meet her, end up calling her sunshine or smiley after a short time with her! She loves to dance and sing “Amazing Grace” 1 million times a day (almost literally!) She likes to suck her thumb and rub my arm (or the arm of whoever is holding her). She likes to say “guess what?” and when you say “what?” she replies “your cute”. She is a blessing to be around and really cheers the day… even the cloudiest rainy ones! Thank you Lord for my sweet little Bell!

garden_memories read me a story mamma So, all these girls look to me for their example… How do I measure up? I utterly fail a lot of the time to set for them the example I should, but with the Lord’s help, I am striving to do better. I must be Kind, Charitable, Longsuffering, Forbearing, Patient, Forgiving, Loving, Joyful, Enduring, Humble, Meek, etc. I must not, get easily angered or provoked, or be scornful, selfish, prideful, unmerciful, rude etc. I must be feminine for my sisters to see what a lady is. I must be devoted to the Lord and content with my lot. LORD HELP ME!

Do you have little sisters? Older sisters? No sisters at all? If you have little sisters let the law of kindness be in your tongue and be humble and meek toward them. Do not act as if they are less than you, for they are not. If you have older sisters, listen to them, understand that they are older, that they have greater responsibility for being older,and that they did not choose to be the oldest! Treat one another as you want to be treated! If a girl has no sisters in the blood, then be a sister in the Blood! If you have no sisters be encouraged to know that the Lord gives you Sisters in another way! Treat one another with respect, love and kindness just as “real” sisters should. Encourage ALL kinds of sisters in the things of God. Do not share what they confide in you with others. It is disgraceful to be part of “the grapevine”.

I am thankful for the sisters the Lord has given me in my church! Mrs. Unger, a sweet mother of 5 who encourages me all the time to obey my parents and be kindly affectioned toward my siblings. Sarah, a lovely young wife, who encourages me  in the Lord, sending me something almost daily! Emma, a cheerful, bubbly, girl of 10 who I can encourage, and be an older sister to, as she has only one, who is one :) Speaking of which Abigail is a sunny baby that I look forward to watching grow, and being able to encourage too!

I have other sisters in Christ too, that are not in my church that I thank the Lord for too! I will not list them, but I am truly thankful for them!

Let us strive to be more like Christ in our sisterly relationships!

Humility Ability

Learning the meekness and humility of the Lord Jesus

“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” -Matthew 11:29

Many people mistake meekness as a trait of effeminacy. That is completely wrong. It takes the strongest character to be truly meek. Meekness is the quality of being mild of temper, not easily provoked or irritated, yielding, given to forbearance under injuries. It is the opposite of pride, haughtiness, and arrogance.

“Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,” -Matthew 21:5-6

The Lord was always meek, and one of his servants was/is known as “the meekest man on earth”, Moses (Nahum 12:3). Meekness and humility are greatly rewarded by God, while pride and arrogance are severely punished. Which category are you in? How will you do better, and conform your character to his? Let us look to the word of God, and pray daily for wisdom and strength to overcome our weak flesh, and follow after righteousness!

“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.” -1Peter 3:4

Meekness is prized by God! Acquiring meekness and humility will bring God’s  blessing upon you! :

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” -Matthew 5:5

“For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” -Psalm 149:4

“The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.” -Psalm 147:6

“The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.” -Isaiah 29:19

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” -Isaiah 61:1

“But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” -Psalm 37:11

“The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.” -Psalm 22:26

“The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.” -Psalm 25:9

“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.” -Matthew 5:5

We are commanded to be meek and humble:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." -Galatians 5:22,23

“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” -Ephesians 4:1-3

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;” -Colossians 3:12

“But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” -1Timothy 6:11

“Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.” -James 3:13

There is severe chastisement for the arrogant!:

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” -James 4:6

“For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:” -Isaiah 2:12

He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.” -Job 26:12

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.” -Ezekial 16:49-50

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” -1John 2:16-17

“Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing [as] they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.” -Isaiah 3:16-17

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” -Proverbs 16:18

“And the afflicted people thou wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.” -2Samuel 22:28

“And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.” -Isaiah 13:11

“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” -Proverbs 8:13

“Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.” -Isaiah 10:33

“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.” -Proverbs 16:5

“The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away, the haughty people of the earth do languish.” -Isaiah 24:4

“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” -1Peter 5:5

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.” -Proverbs 18:12

These are only a few of many verses… So many verses on such a subject must mean two things:

  1. Pride is a common or universal sin. All people are guilty of haughtiness and arrogancy.
  2. It is important to mend your ways and be  meek and humble toward all men; continuing to conform your life to our meek and humble Redeemer!

The Inheritance of the Meek

Oh what a glorious day twill be,
When all they who are meek shall see,
That what was promised fulfilled be,
When earth into their hands gives He!

The proud and haughty be brought low,
Did not God promise ‘twould be so?
And that they'd reap what they did sow?
His wrath and power to them he'd show?

Then let us all take heed today,
of all that we shall do and say,
And let us for His mercy pray,
To take our pride and sins away!

An Evening Prayer

If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own willful way,
Dear Lord, Forgive!

If I have uttered idle words or vain,
If I have turned aside from want or pain,
Lest I myself shall suffer thru the strain,
Dear Lord, Forgive!

Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee,
Forgive the secret sins I do not see;
O guide me, love me, and my Keeper be,
In Jesus name.

More Conformation!

*Obedience*

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” -Romans 5:19

Jesus Christ was obedient… EVEN unto DEATH! Praise God for that, for without His obedience we would be DOOMED to DAMNATION! SO, How obedient are you? Are you conforming your life to Christ by your obedience to authority?

Who are we to obey? How do we obey? How do we DISobedient? What are the consequences? Well let’s check it out!

“Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” Acts 5:29

First and foremost, We should obey the Lord God! Even above our earthly authorities. In other words… If some one in authority commands you to do something against God’s law, don’t do it. BUT! a WARNING: You had better be ABSOLUTLEY sure that it is a sin before you decide to disobey. If you disobey God by there will be serious consequences… even when you disobey your earthly authorities (which God tells you to obey! There goes the excuse “well your not God!” HA! HA!)

“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.” Job 36:11-12

“A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.” -Deuteronomy 11:27-28

A few verses describing the cost of disobedience in comparison with the reward for obedience.

“Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:16

Don’t you know that if you  do whatever your flesh lusts after in sin, you are sin’s slave?? If you obey the Lord you are a servant of righteousness. Which are you? Don’t say righteousness some of the time… “ye cannot serve two masters…” Just something to consider.

Next we have parents that we are commanded to obey NO MATTER WHAT! (with only that rare exception to the rule of a parent telling you to bow down to an idol or the like.)

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.” -Ephesians 6:1

“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.” -Colossians 3:20

There are subsequent penalties for the disobedient froward child:

“Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.” Romans 1:29-32

“The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.” Proverbs 30:17

only a few… there are more… just picture it! and there is a glorious promise for the obedient, honouring, child:

“That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6:3

There are husbands:

“To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” -Titus 2:5

And master (employers):

“Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;” -Titus 2:9

“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:” Colossians 3:22

then there is the government: (YES, God even commands us to obey ungodly government. Think of Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar, Joseph and Potiphar or Pharaoh.)

“Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,” -Titus 3:1

“Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.” -Romans 13:1-7

So there are 5 authority “spheres” that we are COMMANDED to obey: God, Parents, Husbands, Employers and Government. How well do you obey each of these authorities?

“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:” -2Theselonians 1:8

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” -Philippians 2:5-8

Our Merciful Lord’s Forgiveness!

“Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” Mt 3:8

“Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.” –Hosea 6:1

The Lord is SO merciful to us, His children! He is longsuffering… oh so longsuffering, of us! In light, therefore, of my last post, how much more so should we be of others? We are so petty when it comes to being offended and angry. We are pathetic! Both our Lord Jesus Christ, and his true servant, Stephen, called out to God to forgive their MURDERERS! HA! and we get upset about such trifles! O Lord forgive us, your week children! Help us to be more like Thee, O Christ!

“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” –Luke 23:33,34

“And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.” –Acts 7:59, 60

Not only is the Lord longsuffering with his children though… HE IS MERCIFULY LONGSUFFERING TOWARD HIS ENEMIES AND THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL!

“That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” –Matthew 5:45

So then, we are commanded to forgive, forbear and be merciful to each other too!

“Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.” -Colossians 3:12-14

“We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed: But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.” -2Corinthians 6:1-10

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Galatians 5:22-25

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” -Colossians 1:10-14

Lord be thou our guide and keep us in thy way!

Help us to help each other, Lord,
each other's cross to bear;
let each his friendly aid afford,
and feel his brother's care.

Up into thee, our living head,
let us in all things grow,
and by thy sacrifice be led
the fruits of love to show.

Becoming Conformed unto Christ!

    • Be NOT conformed to the world!

My Lord I Did Not Choose You

My Lord, I did not choose You,
For that could never be;
My heart would still refuse You,
Had You not chosen me.
You took the sin that stained me,
You cleansed me, made me new;
Of old You have ordained me,
That I should live in You.

Unless Your grace had called me
And taught my op’ning mind,
The world would have enthralled me,
To heav’nly glories blind.
My heart knows none above You;
For Your rich grace I thirst;
I know that if I love You,
You must have loved me first.

Your love has been forever,
From all eternity;
It's drawing power never,
Shall be withdrawn from me;
I feel that I am kept by
The strength of love divine,
And when I wake in heaven,
All glory shall be Thine!
Josiah Conder first & second verses
Elder Roland Green third verse

Salvation is of the LORD! Entirely up to His will. The Lord has predestinated some. If we want to assure ourselves that we are among the elect of God, we must be about the business of conforming our lives to be more and more like unto the image of Christ’s. If you are NOT conforming your life to His, then you have NO hope or assurance that you are one of His! Works do not save us eternally, legally, vitally, or finally, BUT they DO save us practically! In other words they make our calling and election sure.

“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” - 2 Peter 1:5-11

“And not rather, (as some slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil that good may come? Whose damnation is just.” Romans 3:8
I found it interesting to note that the devil believes in predestination!
“And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?” Matthew 8:29
What is the difference between we & he? : We must make the difference by conforming ourselves to the Lord Christ! (something that the devils are not doing I am quite certain!)

We who believe the truth of predestination will be held to great account in the day of judgment. If we live hypocritically, in that we do not strive to be conformed to the Lord Jesus Christ, we will be subject to the great wrath of God. We must examine ourselves and ask:
  • How much do I look like/act like Jesus of Nazareth right now?
  • how much do we look more like him than last year?
  • Are we conformed? continuing to conform?

There is NO hope for those who do not show any conformation to be more like the image of Christ! Speak like Jesus Christ; love like Jesus Christ; treat others as Jesus Christ treated them;. Conform ALL aspects of your life to Him!

“I beseech ye therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1,2

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” -2Corinthians 5:17

“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” –1 Corinthians 2:16

These are the things we should throw off (our old man’s deeds) and the some of the things we should put on to conform ourselves to Christ! Thank you LORD for making it plain!:

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” –Colossians 3:8-17

Also:

“For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” –Hebrews 7:26

And:

“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” –Psalm 1

More Holiness Give Me!

More holiness give me,
More strivings within;
More patience in suffering,
More sorrow for sin;
More faith in my Saviour,
More sense of His care;
More joy in His service,
More purpose in prayer.

More gratitude give me,
More trust in the Lord;
More pride in His glory,
More hope in His Word;
More tears for His sorrows,
More pain at His grief;
More meekness in trial,
More praise for relief.

More purity give me,
More strength to o'er-come;
More freedom from earth stains,
More longings for Home;
More fit for the kingdom,
More useful I'd be;
More blessed and holy,
More, Saviour, like Thee.

The King’s Daughter

Psalm 45:10-17

      “Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house; So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour. The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace. Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth. I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.”

Hebrews 13:12-16

 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

God Leads Us Along

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,
God leads His dear children along.

Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.

Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

Though sorrows befall us and evils oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.

Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

Away from the mire, and away from the clay,
God leads His dear children along;
Away up in glory, eternity’s day,
God leads His dear children along.

Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

This is such a beautiful Hymn! It is comforting to know that the Lord is leading us, His children! We need not worry about anything. And though some must go “thru the fire” etc. he has promised no trial would be to much for us to bear. Thank you LORD for your never ending care!

Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. Psalm 61: 1-3

Pure Mercy For His Own Glory!

Psalm 33:1 “Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.”

Romans 8:28,29 “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren”

It’s pure mercy and grace… Demerited favour!

Ephesians 1:6-13 “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

Do you believe in freewill? Well so do I! The freewill of the almighty God! God’s children do not have freewill. If he let us choose, we would choose to be wicked, and go on an evil path. I am thankful that he chooses and does not leave me to make the choice.

Psalm 14:1-3 “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”

The Lord knows his children… has known them sense the beginning! (Know: affectionate and benevolent approval of someone/thing.)

Isaiah 43:13-16 “Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted. But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me."

How do we then, know if we are saved? The Lord says if  ye love me, ye will keep my commandments. If you do not, you have NO assurance that you are saved.

  • Repent of a selfish lifestyle

Mark 4:19 “And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.”

  • Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ

Acts 8:37 “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God”

  • Bear much fruit

2 Peter 1:5,6 “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;”

Galatians 5:22,23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”

I praise the Lord for his undeserved mercy, grace, and love! Pure mercy for his own glory: he saves some to show his mercy… he destroys others to show his wrath and power. Never ask “why does God hate or destroy some?” instead you should ask,in awe,  “why does God save anyone?” Thank you LORD!

Psalm 1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

Deuteronomy 20:4

For the Lord your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.

Luke 9:43,44
And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all the things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, Let these things sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
Did it ever strike you as odd how ignorant the disciples seemed? I used to think that they must not have been too bright… BUT now I realize that the Lord is the one that “hid” the saying from them. He could just as, or more easily,  hide the truth from us! LORD have mercy please! Hide not thou thy truth from us. Never let us take the knowledge of truth for granted!
