God Hates The Froward Mouth and the Odious Woman!

more forgotten sins:

There is one aspect of character that I want to have more than anything! I want to be a gracious woman, with gracious lips! I don’t want to be odious or froward in speech or action. I want others to love to be with and around me. I want to be easy to get along with. I want to be the world’s best wife, when God gives me to a man! Lord help me to grow in graciousness! Help me to cut out my froward tongue!

“A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person.”

Psalm 101:4

“For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear: For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat; For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.”

Proverbs 30:21-23

1. Froward: Disposed to go counter to what is demanded or what is reasonable; perverse, difficult to deal with, hard to please; refractory, ungovernable; bad, evilly disposed, ‘naughty’

“For the froward is abomination to the LORD: but his secret is with the righteous.” Proverbs 3:32

“The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.” Proverbs 10:31

“They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.” Proverbs 11:20

“With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;  With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.” Psalm 18:25-26

“Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:” Proverbs 2:15

“Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.” Proverbs 4:24

“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.” Proverbs 6:12

“A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.” Proverbs 16:28

“He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.”  Proverbs 17:20

“The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.” Proverbs 21:8

2. Odious: Deserving of hatred, hateful, causing or exciting hatred or repugnance, disagreeable, offensive, repulsive; exciting Odium.

A.Odium: Hatred dislike, aversion, detestation.

“A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

“A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.” Proverbs 19:13

“It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.” Proverbs 21:9

“It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.” Proverbs 21:19

“A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike. Whosoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand, which bewrayeth itself.” Proverbs 27:15-16

“And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her.” Ecclesiastes 7:26

An odious woman is recognized by all, but never figures out that she is such a woman! There is no hope of correcting her, for she is blameless in her own perverted and profane mind.

3. Implacable: (See last post: http://sojourninghereinfear.blogspot.com/2011/12/blessed-are-peacemakers.html )

Froward people are obnoxious and offensive. Being froward is opposite of being gracious, peaceable, charitable and good. Such a man or woman does not grow in favour with God or men! Their conduct is unconventional and unacceptable! They are boorish, rude, disagreeable, irritating, inconsiderate, selfish, sinful and odious. They cannot be pleased. Odious people are hated and despised. They are irritating, negative, critical, haughty, and have a poisonous spirit that drives others to despise and resent them. God forbid that His children should continue in such filthy communication!

I want to throw off the shackles of these besetting sins, and be like the good women of the Bible! Lord help me! I am a person of unclean lips, and I dwell amongst a people of unclean lips!

  2. Thank you again for your comment! Yes, it does tie in with yesterday's post. One of the most unruly members of our bodies is our tongue. So many sins are associated with it!(frowardness, odiousness, strife, etc, all are mainly exemplified through our speech) If we could rule our tongues better, the world would be a more delightful place :) Oh! And you are welcome ! I like to read the scripture with the thoughts about it without the distraction of page flipping (or mouse clicking) :)

  5. LORD help us! We have such wicked and depraved hearts that blind us to our own sinfulness. LORD, please give us eyes to see, and hearts to repent!
