Evening Meditations

By Mrs. Willie M. Conry

Oh what have I done in thy name, dear LORD,
As I come to the close of this day?
Have I looked up to heaven and thee,
Or, have my steps gone astray.

Have I let my light shine as it should,
Plain enough that others could see?
Or, have my deeds been so worthless and bold,
That others are blinded to Thee?

How hard, oh how hard is my pilgrimage here;
How little the good is in me.
But, guide my hands, guide my feet, dear Lord,
In the paths that will honor Thee.

Oh, what have I done, Oh what have I done,
In Thy name, dear Lord, this day?
Have I looked up to heaven or Thee,
Or, have my steps gone astray?
Or, have my steps gone astray?

5 Inputs for the Glory of God…

~5 inputs to make or break a victorious Christian life

  1. Daily Prayer ~Intimate prayer of communion and fellowship with God about Spiritual things. Including adoring Him, telling Him how much you love Him, confession of your sins & your sinfulness, thanksgiving for His saving you and enlightening your eyes to see the things of the kingdom of heaven, begging Him for righteousness, for a holy life and more of the holy spirit. Etc.
  2. Daily Meditative Bible Reading ~Set apart time to seek God and have your soul fed by every Word of the living God.
  3. Friends ~Evil communications corrupt good manners. Forsake the foolish and live. He that walketh with wise men shall be wise. A companion of fools shall be destroyed. God hates foolishness and folly. Friends influence you greatly. The saints and the excellent should be who you find all delight and friendship in!(Psalm 16:3) Be a companion of all them that fear the Lord. Bible believing, Christ loving people is who you should want for friends.
  4. Music ~Very powerful medium. The music that you ought to let in should be godly music that glorifies Christ! Ask: Is it God glorifying? Christ honoring? Temperance teaching? Christian music? If Music is the “language of the soul” what kind of language do you want to be speaking to it? When you’re merry sing Psalms! One way to befriend the world and be the enemy of God is to listen to it’s music.
  5. Entertainment ~Hollywood is the devil’s pulpit. Everything that comes out of it is preaching a religion. Moving pictures are the most powerful medium the world has ever seen. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes. Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity. Do you take pleasure in anyone that does the things contrary to the word of God? (Romans 1)
  6. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

    Philippians 4:8

This is basic but successful Christianity!

Who are Your Friends?

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”

Proverbs 13:20

Who are your companions? Who do you choose to “walk with” day in and day out? You will be whatever you’re with. No matter how wise or strong you are, foolish and worldly friends will bring you down! There is another side to that though… Wise friends will give you wisdom and build you up, no matter how foolish you are!

Are you stronger or wiser than King Solomon? Foolish affinity turned his heart away from the LORD and caused him to sacrifice to strange gods! (1 Kings 3:1 & 11:1-11)

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.”

1 Corinthians 15:33

Are you or your family’s good manners being corrupted? Check your friends! Choose your children’s friends with care. A good church can and should provide most or all such friends. If you are discontent with your church and prefer other people as friends, destruction is ahead! Take heed lest ye fall!

I am very thankful for my friends in The Church At St. Louis! I praise the Lord for each and every member! Every joint has a purpose and I am thankful for that! I am thankful for a wise father and mother who have chosen my friends carefully over the years. Lord help us to resist the temptation to have affinity with the world!
