In light of total depravity, or rather in proof of it, Romans 1 describes the baseness of men’s natures when the LORD lets them go. But the list of sins for which He gives them over to a reprobate mind are not all what we might call “egregious sins” (as in the murder, fornication, inventing evil things, etc.)but some are sins common to every man (proud, boasters, disobedient to parents, backbiters, envious, etc.).

(btw: all sin is egregious because we daily commit it against a Holy God Who has done everything for us.)

The LORD has shown us that despite the fact that we are just as sinful as those the Lord lets go of, He has put in us the desire to do better, the ability to repent for and of the sin and to press on choosing to put off this old man and on the new, to select good things to do…which will truly be deemed righteous acts because they are robed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ! Therefore,

From beginning,

His choosing us before the foundation of the world when we were yet sinners, to dying for us before we even were born or cared, to regeneration, to conversion in our daily lives in the practical outworking of our salvation… it is ALL Him and nothing of us. But that is not it…

to the end,

There is an icing on the cake… that is not ALL He will do for us! We will drop the sinful flesh and not have the temptations from the sins which here so easily beset us. We will be thoroughly purged from all sin to be perfectly holy in His presence forever! “This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise, To seize the everlasting prize.” We’ll drop the robe of actual corruptible skin and it’s imperfection, but better yet is the dropping of the “flesh”, that sinful warring member within us! Thank you LORD!
